Robert Lee “Bob” Matyastik

Robert Lee “Bob” Matyastik died peacefully in his sleep on Aug. 8, 2015, just 20 days before reaching his 80th birthday.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 13, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday from 9 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Bob, a retired cotton ginner and bail bondsman, was born Aug. 28, 1935, in Cameron to William Paul and Rose Antonia (Svetlik) Matyastik.
He graduated from C. H. Yoe High School. He married Frances Elizabeth “Frankie” (Middleton) Morris on March 21, 1973 and she preceded him in death in 2011.
He was also preceded in death by daughters, Regina Ann Matyastik in 2013 and Wanda Fierce in 1998 and brother Milton James “Jim” Matyastik in 2009.
Bob was one of a kind and had a free spirit. He had strong religious convictions and a keen sense of humor. He will be deeply missed.
He is survived by children Mona “Arleen” Broll and husband Ron of Cameron, Vance Morris and wife Cherie of Belton, Rex Morris of Groves, Zim Morris and wife Linda of Port Neches, Ben Morris of Cameron, Roger Morris and wife Rosa of Cameron and Dana Horton and husband Gene of Cameron; siblings William “Bill” Matyastik and wife Maggie of Waco, Rose Marie Snider of Austin, Ruth Woollett of Austin, Paul Matyastik and wife Patsy of Dallas and Jane Vorwerk of Taylor; 25 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home of Cameron is in charge of arrangements.
