Oscar Edwin “Ed” Falke

Oscar Edwin “Ed” Falke, 87, of the Detmold community died Friday, Nov. 20, 2015.
Edwin was born on June 10, 1928, in Thorndale, to Oscar G. and Minnie (Winkler) Falke.
On May 23, 1948, he married the beautiful Dorothy N. Richter of Detmold.
Edwin was a lifetime resident of the Thorndale community. He served in the United States Air Force Security Service with the 6982nd Radio Squadron during the Korean Conflict. Ed was a member of VFW Post No. 4009 and a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Thorndale. After 39 years of service, he retired from TU Electric. Ed was also associated with the Taylor Soil and Water Conservation District and the Germania Farm Mutual Insurance Company. He was an associate member of the Thorndale Fire Department. A gentle and kind soul, Ed richly blessed the lives of his family and friends.
During his last years, his favorite moments were visiting with them on the family farm.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, his sister, Allyne Richter, and his grandson, Trenton R. Falke.
Ed is survived by daughter, Lynne Hook and husband, Wesley, of West Lake Hills, Texas; son, Dr. Mark E. Falke and wife, Julie, of Thorndale; six grandchildren,
Dr. Jenna Hook Mueller and husband Collin, James Hook, Leah Hook, Easton Falke and wife Jenny, Austin Falke and wife Rebekah, Landon Falke and fiancée Robyn Jost; great granddaughter, Nokona Grace Falke; niece, Cynthia Galbreath and husband George; niece, Denyce Richter; and great nephew, Matthew Galbreath.
Visitation and prayer service will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 27, at Providence Funeral Home in Taylor.
Celebration of Life Graveside Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 28, 2015, at St. Paul Lutheran Church cemetery in Thorndale.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Learning Ally, a national not-for-profit organization dedicated to bringing parents, teachers, and the community together to empower dyslexic, blind or visually impaired students to succeed.
