Billie Ruth Shelander

Funeral services for Billie Ruth Shelander, 81, of the Mt. Zion Community were held Jan. 30 at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
Burial followed in the Mt. Zion Cemetery. Officiating were Conley Shelander and Luther Shelander.
Billie was born into a large family on Jan. 3, 1935 in Robertson County, to Luther and Bertha Alberta (Childress) Denman.
She was a lifelong resident of Milam County and was a 1953 graduate of Milano High School.
On May 24, 1953, she and Wallace Conley Shelander were married in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church. They made their home in the Mt. Zion Community. She was a homemaker, member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and a lifelong children’s Sunday School teacher.
Billie Ruth passed away Tuesday morning, Jan. 26, in the Cameron Nursing Center. She was preceded in death by her husband Wallace on Feb. 9, 2007; granddaughter, Jessica Lynn Brogger on Nov. 5, 2000; three brothers, Jake, Lee and Charles Denman and two sisters, Louise Edwards and Lucy Dragoo.
Surviving are sons Conley Shelander and wife Brenda of Ft. Lupton, Colorado, Wesley Shelander and wife Judy of Rockdale, Luther Shelander and wife Dyan of Rockdale; daughter, Collie Terry and husband Bob of Cameron; two brothers, Bobby Denman and wife Phyllis of Rockdale and Johnny Denman and wife Eva of Lampasas; two sisters, Alma Jane Darwin of Rockdale and Alice Whiteley of Rockdale; 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Jesse Countryman, Calvin Whiteley, Clifford Whiteley, Bobby Jenkins, R.D. Jenkins, Bruce Watson, Lloyd Reaves and Jack Yount.
