Police seeking suspect in Sunday afternoon shooting

Cameron Police are looking for a suspect in a shooting late this afternoon at the KD Apartments.

Police Chief Randy Dixon said the incident occurred at about 4:10 p.m. Sunday. Officers responding to a call of a shooting found a Hispanic male in his late 20s suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to Scott and White in serious condition, Dixon said.
“Apparently the suspect who resides in the apartments and the victim became embroiled in a verbal dispute,” Dixon said. “The argument  originated in the victim’s apartment and continued out onto the parking lot of the complex.”
Witnesses told officers the suspect was seen fleeing the scene with a large caliber handgun after the shooting.
Dixon said police are looking for Rudy Ricardo Borgas Jr., age 19, described as 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighing 135 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black shirt and a grey colored ball cap.
“An extensive manhunt began, involving the Texas DPS, Milam County Sheriff’s Department, constables and Cameron PD,” Dixon said. The suspect had not been located as of 7:30 p.m.
