Holy Ground Church sets movie night June 17
Holy Ground Baptist Church of Cameron will host a free movie night at the City Park Gazebo on Friday, June 17. The movie “The Good Dinosaur” will start at 8 p.m. Everyone is invited to bring lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy the show. Popcorn, soda floats, water and soda will be provided.
Friends of Library book signing June 18
The Friends of the Cameron Library will host a book signing Saturday, June 18, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the library. The featured authors are Larry Causey and Garlyn Webb Shelton. Causey is from Temple and Shelton is from Brenham. Both authors write books with western themes.
Cameron City pool hours
The Cameron City pool, located at Air Park, is now open for the summer season.
Hours are:
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday: Adult Swim noon to 1 p.m.; General Admission 1 to 6 p.m.; available for party bookings 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Friday, Saturday, Sunday: General Admission - noon to 5 p.m.; with party bookings in two blocks: Early block, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.; and Late block 8 to 10 p.m.
Progressive Baptist Vacation Bible School
Progressive Missionary Baptist Church, 1000 W. 6th St., is hosting Vacation Bible School June 20-24 with classes for children ages three years and older meeting at 6:45 p.m. The Youth Annual Special service is set for 11 a.m. Sunday, June 25. Theme for the VBS program is “The Father of Lights” from James 1:17.
Blackwood Quartet to perform in Milano
The Blackwood Quartet will perform in concert at 8 p.m. Friday, June 24, at the Milano Senior Citizens Civic Center Tickets purchased in advance are $15 per family; $10 per adult; and $5 for children under 12 years of age. Pleasant Retreat United Methodist Church plans VBS June 27-29
Pleasant Retreat United Methodist Church, Thorndale, invites children ages pre-kindergarten through sixth grade to attend this year’s Vacation Bible School, “Surf Shack – Catch the Wave of God’s Amazing Love.” Classes will be held June 27-29. Hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday, June 27-28; and 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 29. To register visit the church website: www.umcthorndale.com. First United Methodist Church VBS planned
First United Methodist Church VBS 2016 is “farm-tastic!” In Barnyard Roundup VBS, children learn that Jesus gathers us together! Registration is open for all pre-kindergarten through fifth grade (grade completed)students who want to attend VBS from July 11 to July 14. Classes will meet from 8 a.m. to noon at the Cameron First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. Grace Church plans Fun Festival
Grace Church is planning a Family Fun Festival Saturday, Oct. 1, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. with live music, barbecue plates, craft and vendor booths, and carnival games for the kids. Everyone is encouraged to plans and bring family and friends to enjoy the day.
