Police seize K2/spice during traffic stop

Cameron Police seized a large amount of K2/spice packaged for distribution and two Cameron men are facing felony charges, following a traffic stop this afternoon, according to a statement released by Police Chief Randy Dixon.

Dixon said Alfredo Alzalde, 18, and Abel Azalde, 17, both of Cameron, were arrested on first-degree felony charges of manufacturing/delivery of a controlled substance (more than four grams and less than 400 grams of a penalty group 2A controlled dangerous substance).

In addition, Abel Alzalde was charged with no driver’s license and no insurance, both class C misdemeanors.

They were stopped by Officer Luis Alejo for running a stop sign at the intersection of 9th Street and Central at about 1:40 p.m. today (Wednesday.) During a search of the 2011 Chevrolet Impala the suspects were riding in, officers  found approximately 70 grams of K2/spice and 150 empty plastic baggies. “The substance was  separated into filled bags and sealed bags,” Dixon said.

Dixon said the suspects were booked in the Milam County jail where they were awaiting arraignment this evening.
