Lady Yoe drop tight three-setter to Vanguard Prep

Coming off their first tournament of the year, the Lady Yoe were quickly back in action Tuesday on the road at Vanguard Prep.  
 
The ladies were in every set, but fell in three straight, 25-21, 26-24, and 25-23.  The loss drops the Lady Yoe to 1-10 on the young season. 
 
Both Savannah Kruse and Carley Tucker both had strong matches for the Lady Yoe.  Kruse had a total of six kills, seven assists, four digs, and one serving ace.  Tucker had five kills, five assists, three digs and five aces.  
Daiya Braziel, Kenzie Wimmer, and Ashlee Balch each had two kills in the match.  Wimmer also led the the teams in digs with five.  Gracen Dach, Jazmin Vaculin and Wimmer each had two aces.  
 
Last week, Cameron competed in the large 5A/6A Austin ISD Tournament.  The ladies went 1-7 in the tournament with the lone win coming over Lehman (25-17, 26-28, 25-18).  The ladies also played Stony Point, McCallum, Bowie, Cedar Ridge, Austin, Akins and Shoemaker. 
 
The Lady Yoe Freshmen and JV squads both went 4-4 in their tournaments at Waco University over the weekend.  
 
The varsity will be back in tournament action this weekend at Jewett Leon.  
 
Cameron will be in pool B with the likes of Tarkington, Groesbeck and Kountze.  Cameron will begin pool play at 2:00 p.m.  The Lady Yoe will also take on Kountze at 4:00 p.m. followed up by Groesbeck at 7:00 p.m.  
 
On Friday, Cameron will play BCS at 3:00 p.m., St. Joseph at 5:00 p.m., and Jewett Leon at 6:00 p.m. to wrap up pool play.  
 
Depending on the record from Thursday and Friday, the Lady Yoe will either be in the gold, silver, bronze or copper bracket on Saturday.  
 
Cameron will also be on the road on August 23 at Navasota.  The next home game for the ladies will not be until September 16 when Lexington comes to Yoe Gym for the third district game of the year.
