#2 ranked China Spring comes to Yoe Field on Friday night

When you look back on last year's football season, there are a couple of games that you will remember as being very competitive.  One of those games was against China Spring in non-district play.  The Cougars ended up being the only team to beat Cameron throughout the regular season up until the state championship game.  By all accounts, it looks like Mark Bell's squad may be improved for 2016. 

The Cougars are ranked as high as #2 in the state in some 4A DI polls, and have been one of the most impressive teams in 4A DI throughout the first two weeks of the season.  

"They are very well coached as always and their kids play very hard," said Yoe head coach Tommy Brashear.  "In my opinion, they are the best team we played last year, and just by watching them on film, they might be the best team we play again this year."

The Cougars are coming off an impressive 2015 campaign, with a 12-2 record and state quarterfinal finish.  The Cougars two losses came at the hands of eventual state champion La Vega - once in district (16-14) and then again in the state quarterfinals (20-7).  

Entering this season, it was no secret that the Cougars could be improved for 2016 as a total of 17 starters were set to return.  In their opener, China Spring easily defeated rival Lorena, 49-12.  The Cougars were able to back that up in week two by stepping up to class 5A and defeating Huntsville, 55-8.  China Spring had a 316 to 14 yard advantage at the half in that ball game.
