A Cameron man is dead after a high-speed chase that began in Cameron and ended in Temple on Saturday.
Cameron Police Chief Randy Dixon said the police were called to a domestic dispute Saturday afternoon. He said the gentleman was holding his in-laws at gunpoint and demanding their vehicle. He then left the residence.
Police received a 911 call and got behind the vehicle and tried to stop it for at least 20 minutes.
The vehicle headed toward Temple where the DPS troopers joined the chase.
Dixon said the driver called 911 and told officers he wasn’t going to stop. The driver alluded officers and crashed into a Cameron police vehicle.
“We understand that he shot into a vehicle and shots were exchanged,” Dixon said.
Dixon said Texas Rangers are still investigating the incident and that names have not been released at this time.
