Cross country runners compete at Lexington

After several weeks of preparation, the Yoemen and Lady Yoe cross country teams began their season on Saturday at the Lexington Invitational.

Though it’s early, Cameron did find some success as two boy’s varsity runners finished inside of the top ten while two JV girls placed within the top ten.

“We ran most of our people in JV divisions as we are in such a developing stage that we would have destroyed mentally to run varsity,” said Yoe head cross country coach Dale Keen.  “At some point we will have to but right now we just need to try and have some success.”

All squads will be back on the road this Saturday at Caldwell.  

Boys

For the varsity boys, Cameron had three runners compete.  Jose Osorio was the top finisher for the Yoemen, coming in eighth place with a time of 20:25.31.  Rico Bolivar was just seconds behind with a tenth place finish and a time of 20:43.49.  Eric Rojas also competed for the Yoemen and finished in 35th place with a time of 26:56.43.

Cameron also had two middle school runners compete.  Kincaid Callahan (35th, 16:57.39) and Joseph Barbo (36th, 17:03.73) both ran for the Young Yoemen.

Girls

The girls did not have anyone compete at the varsity level but did have five run for the junior varsity.  Frances Sims highlighted the ladies with a sixth place finish and time of 16:36.33.  Patience Adcock (8th, 17:04.69), McKenzie Kurz (12th, 18:02.42), Rosa Valles (15th, 19:44.37) and Anna Bowman (16th, 21:43.14) all ran on Saturday.

For the junior high, Daisy Osoria (17th, 16:27.26) and Eliza Garcia (27th, 17:36.53) both finished well in a field of 49 runners.
