Osorio finishes second, girls JV captures championship at Florence cross country meet

As district quickly approaches, the Yoemen cross country teams continue to show improvement.  Jose Osorio continues to shine for the Yoemen, finishing in second place (19:06.18) in a field of 45 runners.  Additionally, the JV girls teams captured the championship with three runners finishing in the top five.  

 

“Jose Osorio ran a good 2nd,” said Yoemen head coach Dale Keen.  “The girls picked it up good and won JV division.  Frances Sims was 2nd.”

 

Osorio was just seconds behind the overall winner of the event, Andrew Holt (18:44.20) of Lago Vista.  

 

Sims finished in second overall with a time of 15:42.06.  Patience Adcock was right behind her in third at 17:09.15.  Rosa Valles (5th, 17:54.58), Harlie Halpain (9th, 18:47.57), McKenzie Salicas (13th, 23:02.26) and Ana Bowman (14th, 24:32.72) also ran for the girls JV.

 

Rico Bolivar had a strong finish, coming in 12th with a time of 20:23.78.  Eric Rojas also ran at the varsity level, coming in at 24:41.70.

 

For the JV boys, Robbie Pfeil (22:42.09) was fifth and Joel Uvalle (24:12.71) was 10th.  

 

At the Junior High level, Joseph Barbo (31st, 17:27.20) and Kincaid Callahan (33rd, 18:15.20) both ran for the Young Yoemen.

 

For the girls, Daisy Osorio and Eliza Garcia both finished within the top 20 in a field of 45 competitors.  Osorio was 13th with a time of 16:14.08 while Garcia was 16th at 16:49.81.  

 

The teams will be off this weekend but will return to action on Monday in the Cameron Invitational from the Country Club.
