The holidays are upon us and Grace Church in Cameron will light up a new tradition.
Grace Church will host the Grace Christmas Wonderland Trail of Lights is set for Dec. 7-10 from 7:30-9:30 p.m. each night.
“We want to give families and friends an event they can enjoy completely free of charge, no strings attached,” Melissa Boyer with Grace Church said. “Our hope is that families and friends from surrounding communities are able to enjoy the experience and beautiful light displays.”
The community is invited to be involved by visiting the Trail of Lights and attending a special night on Friday beginning at 6:30 p.m. Horse and buggy rides through the Trail of Lights, Christmas cookies and cocoa, and Christmas Carol Karaoke with local country musician Bob Yates will be featured. Santa’s Workshop will be open for children to create and decorate their own Christmas ornaments and Christmas cookies, face painting, and standing Christmas yard art photos.
There will aslo be a movie under the stars beginning at 7:30 p.m. showing the animated family classic “Polar Express” with popcorn and Christmas punch. Everyone is invited to bring a blanket and your favorite lawn chairs.
Boyer said individuals and/or community organizations are invited to share their vision and inspiration of Christmas by setting up displays in the Trail of Lights. Anyone interested can contact Boyer at (254) 291-3116.
There is no charge for setting up displays, however, the space will need to assigned and located before Dec. 5 for planning purposes.
Boyer said the community can be involved by donating any holiday items they may have laying around.
“We would gladly display additional donated lights, ornaments and decorations to accent our Trail of Lights,” she said. “Depending on the number of sponsored displays, it is possible we could have a need to borrow additional generators.”
Boyer said the vision for this special activity, is to bring people together in a way that they can be close with each other and enjoy the Christmas spirit together as they stroll through an illuminated trail on the church grounds. The Trail of Lights is a walking trail and there will be designated parking areas for your vehicles.
