Geraldine (Gerry) Wolf, 95, of Cameron and formerly of Rosebud and Austin, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 22, at a nursing facility in Cameron.
Services were held Monday, Feb. 27, at St. Monica’s Catholic Church in Cameron. Burial followed in Little River Cemetery near Jones Prairie. Visitation was held Sunday with a rosary recited at at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron.
Gerry was born in Colorado Springs, Colo., in 1921 to Ed and Margaret Norman. After high school, she worked as an office assistant at Camp Carson near Colorado Springs. It was there she met and married Mitchell Wolf where he was stationed before deploying to Europe during World War II. They were married 62 years.
After the war, they moved to Austin, Mitchell’s hometown, where he worked in construction and raised cattle. Gerry settled into her role as homemaker and in 1956 she gave birth to their only child, Ed. During the 70’s she worked for the Internal Revenue Service until she retired and moved with Mitchell to Rosebud around 1985. She made many friends in Rosebud and was an enthusiastic volunteer and active in several organizations. She moved to Winnie L Nursing Facility in 2006.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 2005.
Survivors include her son, Ed; daughter-in-law, Jennifer; step-grandsons, Julien Peterson (Shannan) of Austin and Ron Peterson of Folsom, Calif.; and three step-great-grandchildren, Ziggy, Autumn, and Willa Bee; brother-in-law, Thomas Wolf of Austin; and many nieces and nephews.
Gerry’s family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff at Winnie L. for their kindness and providing her with quality care over the last 10 years. Thanks also to her many friends there, whom she loved. The family is also grateful to the staff at Kindred Hospice for helping them through Gerry’s final days.
