Jo Ann Biskup, of San Antonio, passed away quietly in a hospital in Sugar Land on March 30 after complications following surgery.
Jo Ann was born Sept. 15, 1937, in Osceola, and raised in Bryan, and Frankfurt, Germany. She lived in Houston for 40 years and after retirement moved to Lake McQueeny, Schertz, and then to San Antonio in 2017 where she resided until her death.
Jo Ann is preceded in death by her parents, James and Ann Coody of Cameron; brother, James Lawrence Coody, and James Coody; and her beloved dog for 17 years, Heidi.
She is survived by a husband, Lieutenant Colonel Robert L. Biskup, retired; daughter and son-in-law, Marcia and David Fox of Missouri City; son, Derek S. Fluker of Taiwan; seven grandchildren, Ryan Fox and wife Laura, and great grandchildren Jaxson and Cody, Carly Horton and husband James, Jesse Fox and wife Stephanie and great granddaughter Eleanor, Jennifer Fox, Nicholas Fox and wife Tori, Dyani Fluker, and Buzz Fluker; her step-children, Trese and husband Steve Engelstad of Lisle, Ill., Robert and Krystana of Waterford, Mich., and Bruce Biskup of Seattle, Wash., and their children whom she loved dearly, Kristen and Megan Engelstad, Joel and Ashley Biskup, Alex, Bono, Chris and Anna Farley plus many aunts, uncles, and cousins, along with her darling dog Kayle.
Jo Ann was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church at Fort Sam Houston, and the Catholic Women of St. Anthony's. She was also a member of the Randolph Spouses Club and a past president of the Retired Officers Wives And Widow Club of Fort Sam Houston. Additionally, she did volunteer work for the Family Ministry at Brooke Army Hospital and volunteered at the Randolph Thrift Shop. She and husband Bob volunteered at the Bexar County Czech Heritage Society, and the Amigo Program sponsoring Czech and Slovak students at the Defense Language Institute at Lackland Air Force Base for eight years.
Visitation was held on Monday, April 10, beginning at 6 p.m. at Porter Loring Mortuary North Chapel with the Rosary following at 7 p.m. Mass was held Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at 10 a.m. at St. Mark the Evangelist Church, 1602 Thousand Oaks. Interment followed in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 11:30 a.m.
