Barbara Schulte

Barbara Schulte passed away on Sunday, June 11, 2017, in Katy, at the age of 76. 

She was born on Oct. 18, 1940, in Cameron, to James P. Coward and Velma Hayes Coward. She was a proud graduate of Cameron Yoe High School. Barbara married Johnie Schulte in 1962 and lived in Houston, raising their family and residing for many years in Jersey Village. She enjoyed travel, playing card games, fishing, spending time with her grandkids, and was an enthusiastic fan and season ticket holder of the Houston Astros for over 25 years.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Frank Rosales Jr. of Houston; grandson, Reese Rosales; granddaughter, Sarah Rosales; sister, Nelda McLerran of Katy; brother and sister-in-law, Elton and Gloria Coward of Cameron; brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Johnnie Kolkhorst of Houston; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Mary “Puddin” Barnes of Brenham; and sister-in-law, Mary Ann Schulte, also of Brenham. There are also numerous nieces, nephews and many other loving family members and close friends. 

She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Johnie Schulte; son, Clifford Schulte; sister and brother-in-law, Wanda and Bob Shoaf, of Houston; brother and sister-in-law, Earl and Marian “Sugar” Kolkhorst of Brenham; brother-in-law, Charles Schulte of Brenham; and brother-in-law, Burrell McLerran of Katy.

We would like to personally thank Enriqueta “Kata” Sandoval of Houston for her many years of service and dedication to the Schulte Family. She has been a generous loving care giver and a special friend to Mrs. Schulte. We would also like to thank the staff at Sunrise Senior Living of Cinco Ranch for all their love and support while she lived there. Their dedication to their mission for the care of others, is truly inspiring. A special thanks to the staff at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Katy, for their grace during such a difficult time for our family.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 14, 2017, at Schmidt Funeral Home – Grand Parkway, where funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 15, 2017, with Rev. Daniel Schramm.  A graveside service will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday at the Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham.
