Irene Mildred Arldt Schneider, 87, of Thorndale, peacefully went to be with her Lord on July 4, 2017.
She was born in Coryell County on Jan. 18, 1930, to Carl (Charlie) and Lillie Richter Arldt. She was baptized on Jan. 26, 1930, and confirmed on April 18, 1943, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in The Grove, where she also completed her schooling.
She worked at Scottish Rite Dormitory in Austin. Irene was married to Rhylan Victor Schneider on Aug. 22, 1948, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in The Grove. Irene and Rhylan enjoyed 58 blessed years of marriage.
Moving to Thorndale in 1953, Irene has been an active member of the community, serving multiple times as Room Mother, was an Associate Member of the LWML, and an active member of The Thorndale Chamber of Commerce. She served as Director of the TCC for four years and Vice-President for one year. Also, she enjoyed sharing her creative talents with the Decorating Committee and taking responsibility for decorating the Chamber of Commerce Float. Irene was proud to be a meritorious recipient of the Thorndale Chamber of Commerce Award. In 2016, Irene and her staff were gratified when she received Yard of the Month.
As an Outstanding Sales Person with Zenith, Irene was awarded travel to wonderful destinations. She enjoyed those trips with her husband, Rhylan; along with other travels gifted by her daughter and son-in-law. In addition, Irene and Rhylan began acquiring real estate around 1975. During her lifetime Irene was invested in people and wanted them and her community to prosper. She selflessly gave the very best of herself for many wonderful years. Irene was a woman of great faith and a blessing to so many people whose lives have been touched by her generosity.
Irene loved her family and worked enthusiastically to create a lasting legacy for them. Irene is preceded in death by her husband, Rhylan; parents, Carl and Lillie Richter Arldt; and sister, Adeline Geistman.
Survived by her loving daughter, Patricia (Pat) Hopkins and husband Mike Hopkins of Kingwood; three grandchildren, Nathan and wife Mindy of Dripping Springs, Aaron Hopkins of Midland, and Jordan Hopkins and wife Kiemel of Denver, Colo.; great-granddaughters, Avery, Emerson, and Irene Hopkins of Dripping Springs; sisters, Florene Teinert of Round Rock, Caroline Fuessel of Taylor, and Viola Patschke of Pearland; and brothers, Elmer Arldt of Temple, and Lloyd Arldt of The Grove. Irene also had five nieces and four nephews that she enjoyed.
Pallbearers are Mike Hopkins, Nathan Hopkins, Aaron Hopkins, Jordan Hopkins, Glen Teinert, Nolan Patschke, Sean Griffin, and Ed Cline. Honorary Pallbearers are Elmer Arldt, Lloyd Arldt, Eric Muegge, Craig Carothers, Preston Peterson, Lance Vasicek, and Corey Roberts.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Friday, July 14, 2017 at Providence Funeral Home in Taylor. Celebration of Life Service will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 15, 2017, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Thorndale.
