Yoe Football Dates

With practice beginning in less than a month, some important Yoe football dates has been made public. Below are some important events that you will want to have marked on your calendar.

Leadership Council Workouts (July 24-27)

Two weeks before two-a-day practice begins, leadership council led workouts will take place. These workouts do not involve coaches, but set the standard for what is expected once practice gets underway.

Yoemen Football Camp (July 31-August 3)

The annual Yoemen football camp will take place the week before practice begins. The camp is for incoming third through ninth graders. Campers will learn fundamentals of the game from the Yoemen coaching staff.

Meet the Coaches (August 3)

In the days before practice, players and parents will get to meet the Yoe coaching staff and fill out necessary paperwork for the upcoming season. Additionally, head coach Tommy Brashear will go over all the expectations for the program.

Handout of Equipment (August 4)

This is the day for all Yoe football players to collect equipment to be used for practice. The varsity will be at 10:00 a.m with the JV (11:00) and freshman (11:30) to follow.

Start of 2-a-days (August 7)

The first official football practice of 2017 will begin bright and early on Monday, August 7 at 7:30 a.m. These practices will last all the way up until the first day of school. Times will vary.

Intrasquad Scrimmage (August 12)

If you are wanting to get a first look at the Yoemen in pads, this is the time to do it. The freshmen and JV will get going at 8:00 a.m. with the varsity to follow around 10:00 a.m.

Fundraiser Blitz (August 12)

This will be the final push for Yoe athletes to sell Yoe Cards. Yoe Cards help the athletic program throughout the year with expenses.

Meet the Players (August 17)

This will be your opportunity to meet all of the Yoe athletes competing in fall sports. The event is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. from the performing arts center.

First Scrimmage (August 18)

The first scrimmage of 2017 will take place on the road at Lorena. The freshmen and JV will both get going at 5:00 p.m. with the varsity to follow at 7:00 p.m.

Picture Day (August 19)

Jerry Bethel will be taking pictures of all football players from Yoe field.

Second Scrimmage (August 24)

The second and final scrimmage of the year will take place from Yoe Field on August 24. The times are the same as the first scrimmage.

First Sub-Varsity Games (August 31)

The Yoe freshmen and JV will kick off their seasons on the road at Bellville. The freshmen will begin at 5:00 p.m. with the varsity to follow at 6:30 p.m.

First Varsity Game (September 1)

All of the anticipation for the start of the season will come to a head on Friday night when the preseason #1 Yoemen host a ranked Bellville team. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
