With broken hearts we announce our father, brother and uncle has put on his dancing shoes and is dancing with the Lover of his soul.

Edward James Vondra Jr. left this world of pain and confusion to return to his Home on Aug. 29, 2017. He is no longer in pain or confused and for that we are blessed. We will miss him dreadfully, but will continue to the legacy he left of love for others no matter color or creed, service to all who needed help and family comes first.

He is survived by his daughter, Joie McNabb and husband Larry McNabb and grandson Luke McNabb of Cameron; his other daughter, Katherine Long and husband Mark Long and grandson Cameron Long of Willis; his sister, Bonnie Vondra and brother James Vondra of Fort Worth; grandson James Evans of Dallas; adopted son, James Henderson and wife Adrienne Henderson and adopted grandkids, Jessilyn, Jordan and Josiah Henderson of Cameron; and adopted son, Steve Crume and wife Barbara Crume of South Carolina; along with countless others that he adopted into his family over the years.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Barbara Vondra; his daughter, Roberta “Bobbi” Vondra; his brother, Jack Vondra; his parents, Edward James Vondra Sr. and Bernice Vondra; and his birth mother, Olga Vondra.

His funeral will be Friday, Sept. 1, 2017, at 1 p.m. at Greenwood Funeral Home and Cemetery, 3100 White Settlement Road, Fort Worth TX 76107. There will be no viewing of the body, just a graveside service in accordance with dad’s wishes.

Family and friends in the Cameron area are invited to a celebration of his life at the H&R Block office, 706 N. Travis Avenue in Cameron, on Sunday, Sept. 10, from 2-5 p.m. Feel free to come share stories and smiles of dad and his life. The family appreciates more than you will ever know your love, prayers and support these last few years.
