Gold Out to support pediatric cancer research on Friday

In an effort to raise funds for pediatric cancer research there are plans to Gold Out the game against Gatesville this Friday at Yoe Field.
According to fundraiser organizer Brad Vaculin, the fundraiser was originally organized by two ladies - one of them being Angel Miller from Rockdale whose husband is the athletic director at RISD.
“They started it two years ago and raised $54,000 the first year and $63,000 last year all of which went toward pediatric cancer research,” Vaculin said. “This years goal is $100,000.”
The shirts cost $10 with $7 of that being donated to research. Shirts went on sale last week at each CISD campus.
Everyone is asked to wear them to the game on Friday, Sept. 8, against Gatesville in order to show support for kids fighting cancer. “This fundraiser is near and dear to my heart,” Vaculin said. “I worked in cancer research for five years and told myself that I would stay involved in the fight anyway that I could. I know its kind of short notice, but I remember several years ago when all Yoemen from near and far came together and raised almost $50,000 in four days!”
“When enough good people get together for such a worthy cause, mountains can be moved and cancer can be cure,” he said. “If you have a business and would like to raise any money in your own way to be donated for this cause, please feel free. It could be something as simple as a bucket to collect change by the cash register to some type of incentive program.”
You can purchase shirts from any CISD school this week or at Cameron Farm & Ranch Co. at the red light in Cameron.
