District Cross Country Results
The 20-3A district cross meets took place this past week in Cameron. The Lady Yoe varsity finished in fourth place as a team with 93 points. Franklin (1st, 22 points), Academy (2nd, 62 points), Lexington (3rd, 77 points) and Rockdale (5th, 111 points) were the field of competitors.
Daisy Osorio was the top finisher for the ladies, coming in 13th with a time of 17:39.4. Daniela Bustamante (15th, 17:56.7), Eliza Garcia (18th, 18:08.0), Patience Adcock (28th, 20:42.0) and Anna Bowman (36th, 28:15.1) competed in the field of 42 runners.
Cameron did have one boy compete in varsity competition as Robbie Pfeil placed 37th with a time of 22:41.2.
In the JV divisions, Rosa Valles (5th, 18:22.8) and Courtney Muniz (11th) competed for the girls, while Joseph Munoz (3rd, 20:52.0) and Antonio Jiminez (22nd, 27:21.6) ran for the boys.
That wraps up the 2017 Yoe cross country season as no runners will be advancing to regionals.
Junior High Volleyball Tournament Results
The Lady Yoe JH Volleyball A Teams competed at the Sam Rayburn Tournament at Bryan HIgh School on Saturday, October 7th. There were a total of sixteen teams in each Division.
The 8th grade competed hard but lost both of their first two games to College Station Middle School and Caldwell JH eliminating them from the tournament.
The 7th Grade lost their first game to Schultz Middle School (Waller ISD) in three sets: 11-25,25-19, 7-15 placing them in the Consolation bracket. The 7th Grade Lady Yoe then went on a three match winning streak claiming the Consolation Bracket defeating: Livingston JH: 25-18, 25-10, Caldwell JH: 25-20, 25-13, and Peet MS: (Conroe ISD) 22-25, 25-16, and 15-12.
Sicory Smith making presence felt at Blinn
Another Yoe High athlete is starting to make headlines at Blinn Junior College. Former standout Yoe receiver Sicory Smith had a breakout game in the Buccaneers’ most recent 56-33 win over Arkansas Baptist University. Smith caught seven passes for 224 yards and 3 touchdowns in the win, and the freshmen now leads the team with four touchdown receptions for the year. Number eight Blinn and Smith will be back in action on Saturday, October 14 at New Mexico Military Institute.
Dig Pink Events
The Lady Yoe Volleyball team will be hosting the 8th Annual Dig Pink Fundraiser this month. All proceeds from the event are donated to Breast Cancer research.
Through October, the Dig Pink Festivities will begin. T-shirts are on sale through Tuesday. T-
shirts are pre-order, pre-pay, $15 cash only. You can order your shirt from any Lady Yoe Volleyball Player or Coach.
On Oct. 17, join the Lady Yoe as they host the Dig Pink game at Yoe Gym. During the game, there will be a silent auction, a raffle, pinktreats, and more. Those that attend are also asked to wear pink. In the past seven years, the ladies have raised over $59,000 for Breast Cancer Research.
