Davenport resigns as mayor

The Thorndale City Council reorganized itself on Nov. 8 after the resignation of Mayor Ryan Davenport.
The council accepted Davenport’s resignation and voted to fill the vacancy with current councilmember Mara McDowell until the next election. The council was set to meet on Nov. 15 to fill McDowell’s position.
In other business council: adopted a resolution allocating their votes on the Milam County Appraisal District Board of Directors to Don Culp; and approved the purchase of backstops for the ball fields at city park.
