Westphalia KCs Shrimp & Fish Fry

Westphalia Knights of Columbus Council #13902 will sponsor a drive-thru Shrimp & Fish Fry every Friday evening during Lent beginning Feb. 16 thru March 23. Plates will be to go only starting at 3:30 p.m. until 7:15 p.m. (or until sold out). Plates will consist of fried shrimp, fried fish, beans,  slaw and french fries. Cost will be $10 per plate.  Plates can be picked up in a drive-thru lane behind the Westphalia Parish Hall, 3000 State Highway 320, Westphalia.

 

Masonic Lodge Fish Fry

The San Andres Masonic Lodge will hold its annual Fish Fry on Saturday, Feb. 17, from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Bea’s Kitchen in Cameron. Tickets are $8 in advance or at the door. Featuring fabulous silent auction items. Advance tickets at True Value Hardware, Cameron Chiropractic Clinic or from any Cameron Mason. Plates include fried catfish, pinto beans, hush puppies, coleslaw, iced tea and dessert.

 

Valentine’s Dance

St. Monica’s Catholic Church will host its Second Annual Valentine’s Dance on Feb. 17 from 7 p.m. to midnight at the Simon George Hall, 306 South Nolan Avenue in Cameron. Family fun including cake wheel, soda toss, and toy booth. Concession stand. Enchilada plates will be sold for $10. Plates-to-go available. Talent show for ages 4 and up. First prize will be a $75 Visa gift card. Second prize is a Alexa 7. Music by DJ Estrella.

 

Chili Supper

The Milano Volunteer Fire Department will hold its Chili Supper on Saturday, Feb. 17. Live and silent auctions, live band. Begins at 4:30 p.m. and will sell until chili is gone. Eat in or carry out. Cost is $8 for adults, $4 children under 12, and free for children under 2. Includes dessert and drink. 

 

Baseball Sign-ups

Registration for Cameron Boys Baseball Association will be Saturday and Feb. 17 and 24 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Cameron Volunteer Fire Department. Cost to play is $70, there is a discount if you purchase a ticket to the CBA giveaway dinner. Opening Day is April 7.

 

Chamber Banquet

The Cameron Chamber of Commerce’s annual banquet is set for Feb. 22 at the Williams Events Center in Cameron. Guest speaker will be Chet Garner from The Day Tripper. Dinner will be catered by Jerry and Agnes Kostroun. Tickets are $25 each. Call to reserve a table for your organization. Tax Office Closed for Training

The Milam County Tax Office will be closed all day on Friday, Feb. 23, for software training. The office will also not be taking phone calls on that day. Currently, the Rockdale Tax Office Substation remains closed, though they anticipate re-opening by April 17. For questions, call 697-7017.

 

Rummage Sale

Crossroads Bible Church in Rockdale is sponsoring another mission trip to Guatemala this summer to provide food, clothing, and medical support to people living in very primitive communities. The group this year includes 20 volunteers from Rockdale, Thorndale, and Gause. They will hold a Rummage Sale on Saturday, Feb. 24, from 9 a.m. to  3 p.m. at the church, 193 N FM 487 in Rockdale. Items will include adult and children’s clothes and shoes, household items, tools, décor, and lots more. A sausage wrap meal for a $5 donation will be available. Washpot Stew Dinner

The Buckolts VFD will host its Washpot Stew Dinner on Sunday, Feb. 25, from 11 a.m. until sold out. Menu includes stew, cornbread, crackers, dessert and drink for $9. Carry-out will be available. Proceeds benefit the Buckholts VFD.

 

Cameron ISD 

Scholarship Foundation Golf Tournament

The Cameron ISD Scholarship Foundation will host its third annual golf tournament on March 31 at the Cameron Country Club. Shot gun start at 10 a.m. Cost is $200 per team or $50 for individual. Classic Car Show

You are invited to the 10th Annual Cameron Car Club Classic Car Show to held in Cameron on Saturday, April 7, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the Milam County courthouse square in Cameron. Railroad Museum

The Milam County Railroad Museum and Old Town Cameron will be open Tuesdays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. during the winter.  Old Town Cameron will be undergoing extensive upgrades to the track and operating systems during the next two to three months.  If members of the Milam County Model Railroad Club are working, the Museum and OTC will be open.  Please check our website: www.mcmr-otc.org for a schedule of work times.

 

Ben milam VFW Post 2010

Kitchen open Tuesday through Saturday from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. Dart tournaments Wednesday and Friday. Karaoke every Friday. Come and enjoy.
