Marie Garrard

Marie Garrard, 82, of Austin and formerly of Cameron died Thursday, July 5, 2018, at her home. 

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 10, at St. Monica’s Catholic Church in Cameron with Rev. Dimitrij Colankin officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Monica’s Cemetery. Visitation was held on Monday from 6-8 p.m. with a rosary being recited at 7 p.m. at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron.

Ms. Garrard was born on July 8, 1935, in Wharton to Fred and Carolina “Carrie” (Giese) Heinz. She had been a member of St. Monica’s Catholic Church where she had served in many capacities, such as a CCE instructor, Eucharistic minister, serving on the bereavement committee and singing in the church choir for many years.  She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Cameron VFW. 

She is survived by: daughters, Katherine Brigman of Waco, Deborah Smith of Waco, and Mary Corona of Austin; sons, Robert Ejem of Kempner, Daniel Ejem of Cameron, and Gary Gregson of Austin; sisters, Betty Davis and Ann Susik of Corpus Christi; 14 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren

Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home of Cameron is in charge of arrangements.
