AP Football Poll Released
On Monday, the associated press released their preseason football polls for all classifications. This poll is the only one in the state that still combines all teams within both divisions despite the fact that none of the teams will every play each other in the postseason.

Cameron managed the sneak into the rankings, tied for 25th with the likes of Woodville and Buffalo. Newton narrowly edged out Brock for the top spot in the rankings. Defending state champ Rockdale is pegged in the fifth slot, good enough for third in the division behind Brock and Goliad.
In class 6A, Allen was at the top, while Lake Travis (second) and Austin Westlake (fourth) are two locals teams ranked inside the top five. Hewitt Midway was ranked 11th with 19 votes.
In class 5A, state power Aledo sits at the top, while College Station (seventh) and Cedar Park (tenth) are two locals inside the rankings. A&M Consolidated was 11th and Hutto was 13th.
In class 4A, Carthage (10) narrowly edged Argyle (11) in total points for the top spot despite having received fewer first place votes. La Vega comes in fourth and Liberty Hill is tenth.
In class 2A, Mart is in the second slot right behind Refugio. Burton is seventh, Bosqueville is 12th, Crawford is 15th, Hearne is 17th and Bremond is 19th.
Soccer registration underway
Soccer registration is now underway for the youth interested in the camp. The deadline to register is Thursday, August 30. You can sign up at the Yoe High Cafeteria on that very night from 5:00-7:00 pm in the last chance registration. The cost per camper is $40 and there is a discount for families with more than one child. Ages 4-13 are eligible to attend. Lorena football scrimmage format
The format for the scrimmage on Friday has been released.
The freshmen and JV will both start at 5:30 pm, with each offense and defense getting 30 minutes of work.
The varsity scrimmage will start with controlled sets of plays at 7:00 pm. The first team offense will get 10 plays apiece before the second team gets 10 plays.
The first team will then get 10 more plays before the second team gets in eight more plays. Anything inside the 30-yard line is considered four-down territory.
Following that will be a live 12:00 game quarter. There will be no rush on punts or extra point attempts.
The Cheerleaders will be taking donations at the gate as a part of the THSCA "Our Day to Shine", which goes to the THSCA benevolence fund to help with athletes who are seriously injured or die while playing High School sports in Texas.
