There were some real eye openers during week two of the season. Starting at the top was Goliad’s dominant win over Refugio, 35-0. Refugio is a 2A school, but they have consistently beat teams larger than themselves, so this could go down as one of the more impressive wins of the year. Gladewater has moved from just outside of the top 10 to number 3 after a 17-point win over Atlanta. Many felt heading into the game that Atlanta may have been the class of that region. Franklin’s 10-point loss to Lorena was surprising but not shocking as they knocked off China Spring in week one by two touchdowns.

Outside of the top 10, Yoakum rebounded in a big way from their week one loss to Boerne by taking down Cuero by 10 points. The Gobblers are consistently a top 10 football program in 4A DII. Rockdale picked up a quality win on the road over Caldwell while my stock in Hallettsville is falling quicker than any other team in the state.
