Kenneth Garner Willy

Kenneth Garner Willy, 89, of Cameron, died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2018, at his home.  Memorial services will be Sunday, Oct. 14, at 3 p.m. at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home with Douglas Marburger officiating. Visitation is at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Willy was born July 19, 1929, in Adamsville, Texas, to Raymond Hunt and Avvie (Garner) Willy. He received his Bachelor’s of Science degree in Geology from Texas Tech University. He married Gayle Childers who preceded him in death in 2000.

In 1960, at the age of 31, after working for ARCO, Kenneth and Gayle moved their young family to Maysfield, Texas, when, in partnership with his parents, he began his lifelong passion for farming, ranching, and as God's steward of the soil. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cameron. 

His best friend Wilma Dycus, her family and Mildred Dove were a source of comfort, support, and joy since his wife’s death. He is preceded in death by his parents, his granddaughter Dana Willy and a brother, Thurman Willy.   

He is survived by a loving family which include his sister, Linda Perry and her family of Austin; two sons, Michael Willy and his wife Mabel of Austin, and Greg Willy and his wife Rita of Georgetown; two daughters, Lynn Johnson-Ruthrauff and her husband Richard, and Amy Finney and her husband Doug, both of Houston; and four grandchildren, Christina, Robert and Kelly Johnson and Dr. Nathan Willy.
