Week 10 Football Outlooks

Cameron Yoe (7-1-4-0) Vs. Manor New Tech (1-7/0-4)

Cameron is coming off their most impressive win of the season in their most important game of the season last week over Rockdale. The win was impressive in itself, but Cameron got execution across the board from their offense, defense and special teams units, which is what you expect from elite level teams in big moments. I say this all of the time, but the key for this team is to continue to build and improve week from week. If they can do that, we are going to be in for an exciting ride this postseason.

This week is a road trip to Manor New Tech, which has yet to get into the win column in district play. I personally believe it would have been best for this team to have played a JV only schedule this first year, but that was not an option with so many juniors and also a few seniors on the roster.

The result is not in doubt as you should see plenty of backups entering the game in the second quarter and then even more in the second half, where we should see a running clock. Get work in, get better and get out injury free into the season finale next week with Lago Vista.

A reminder that this game is not played at the new Manor High School, which is off of 973 before you get into Manor. You will need to get on 290, head West for a short distance, and then use the turnaround to locate Manor New Tech.

Josh’s Pick: Cameron Yoe by 28+

Pratt’s Eats: This is the final regular season game and there are going to be some good options on your way to the game. If you’re in Taylor, you have a chance to get some of the better BBQ in the state at Louie Mueller’s. Lucky Duck Cafe has high ratings for American style food, while there is also the Sirloin Stockade buffet if you have a large appetite. Hit The Spot Cafe in Manor can serve you up chicken fried steaks and burgers.

Milano (3-4/2-2) Vs. Rosebud-Lott (2-7/1-3)

Milano is coming off of a nice 38-13 win over Marlin while Rosebud-Lott suffered a tight loss to Thrall, 19-14. For Milano, it’s pretty simply. If you win this game, you’re going to be in the playoffs. If you lose, things are out of your hands and you may not be in the postseason. Results throughout the district schedule would lead me to believe Milano would be the slight favorite this week.

Josh’s Pick: Milano by 7.

Troy (7-2/4-1) Vs. Lago Vista (2-6/1-3)

Troy is now rolling along after their big win over Rockdale two weeks ago followed by a walk-over win over Manor New Tech last week. Lago Vista is simply in a must-win situation and must defeat both Troy this week and Cameron next week to even have a shot at the postseason. This is Troy’s last game of the season before the playoffs and I don’t expect a letdown.

Josh’s Pick: Troy by 28+

Jarrell (3-5/1-3) Vs. Rockdale (5-3/2-2)

If you’re Rockdale, you cannot let the loss to Cameron in the Battle of the Bell linger too much. Rockdale still has a good football team that certainly has potential to make some noise in the playoffs, so unfortunately for Jarrell this may be a good time for the Tigers to vent a little frustration. The key issue I saw from Rockdale last week was the lack of an efficient passing attack, which is something I would be working on these last two weeks.

Josh’s Pick: Rockdale by 28+

Franklin (6-1/4-0) Vs. Diboll (8-0/4-0)

This is the big game out of region III this week. We know that all Cameron has to do is beat Manor New Tech to earn the number one seed in the playoffs. If the Yoemen were to get by their first round opponent, there is a good chance they would play the loser of this game in the second round. Franklin has looked impressive all year long with the exception of a 10-point loss to Lorena in non-district. Diboll has yet to lose but has yet to play anyone close to the caliber of a Lorena. Both like to run the ball, but I think Franklin does it better. To beat the Lions, you have to be stout up front and be able to throw the ball down the field.

Josh’s Pick: Franklin by 21.
