Yoemen get big win over Jarrell, fall to Franklin in close one

The Yoemen got back to business with a big win over Jarrell 57-45 on Dec. 14, but suffered a tough loss to Franklin on Dec. 18.

The team, lead by top scorer Thomas Melton with 12 points, was one-point behind at the end of the first quarter, but came out big in the second quarter and third quarters.

The Yoemen scored 14 points in the second quarter and 20 points in the third and Jarrell never caught up to them.

Others scoring for the Yoe were Za’Korien Spikes with seven points, Braden Brashear with five points, Dre Booze with eight points, Kobe Young with seven points, and Nico Vargas with eight points.

The Yoemen suffered a tough loss to Franklin on Dec. 18, 45-41.

Scorers were: Dre Booze with 14, Za’Korien Spikes with nine, Kobe Young with eight, Braden Brashear with four, Calvin Stewart with four, Thomas Melton with two. 

The Varsity now sits at 0-1 in district play and 6-8 on the season. 

 

Junior Varsity

The Junior Varsity A team also got a win over Jarrell 36-29. 

Those scoring were: Billy Collier with two points, Davarius Bynaum with four points, Tray’von Fisher with four points, T.K. Young with six points, Ke’Vaughn Booze with ten points, and Brent Wright with 10 points.

The Junior Varsity B team lost to Jarrell 41-63.

Those scoring were: Ryan Muniz with 13 points, Javoun Goldsby with 11 points, Phaibian Bynaum with nine points, Antonio Flores with three points, Aarick Nelson with two points, Anthony Oviedo, with two points, and Davioun Scott with one point.

Junior Varsity A defeated Franklin 33-28 making it nine straight wins for the team.

Scorers were: Jaiden Sanchez with 13, Brayden Hollomon with six, KeVaughn Booze with five, Billy Collier with four, Brent Wright with three, and Tre’vyon Fisher with two.

Junior Varsity B also defeated Franklin 27-19.

Scorers were: Phaibian Bynaum with eight, Adam Cardona with seven, Nolan Brashear with five, Javoun Goldsby with two, Aarick Nelson with two, Ryan Muniz with two, and Davioun Scott with one.

The Yoemen travel to Troy on Friday, Dec. 21. The junior varsity will get underway at 5 p.m. and varsity at 7 p.m.

The Yoemen and Lady Yoe are set for the Cameron Chamber of Commerce Christmas Classic on Dec. 27 and 28 in Cameron.
