Elmo “Candy” Petty

Elmo “Candy” Petty, 82, of Temple, died Friday, Dec. 14, 2018, in a Temple rehab center. 

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, at Lights Chapel Baptist Church in Cameron.  Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery.

Candy, a retired school bus driver, was born March 17, 1936, in Jones Prairie to Luthell and Delores (Petty) Dunn. 

He was preceded in death by a son, Curtis Taylor; a granddaughter, Keandra Russell; and two brothers, Ray Dunn and Dwight Dunn. 

He is survived by: three daughters, Linda Cooke of Rosebud, Lynette Russell of Rockdale, and LaHoma Russell of Rockdale; brother, Rev. Leslie Dunn of Cameron; sisters, Lenora Bell of Cameron, Glinda Dunn of Longview, Dorothy Edward of Stephenville, Ernestine Bailey of Florida, and Cynthia Wilson of Cameron; step-brothers, Delawrence Wilson of Cameron and Willie Ray Spells of Cameron; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home of Cameron is in charge of arrangements.
