Eleanor Luckey

Funeral services for Eleanor Luckey, age 91, of Sharp, were held Sunday, Dec. 23, 2018, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with Rev. John Seaton of St. John’s United Methodist Church in Rockdale officiating. Cremation followed. Visitation was held before the services at the funeral home.

Eleanor Luckey was born Oct. 13, 1927, in Cameron, to Lee Roy and Ellen Jane (Hobbs) Clore. She was a graduate of Yoe High School in Cameron. On Aug. 7, 1946, she and James E. Luckey were married in Temple.

Eleanor worked for Industrial Generating Company for 35 years working in Human Resource and as a statistician. She had also worked for the Veteran’s Administration. She was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church in Rockdale. They have lived in Sharp the past 20 years, having moved there from Rockdale. Eleanor enjoyed growing roses and African violets and made a great dewberry cobbler. She was an amazing pianist, playing at First Christian Church in Cameron and other area churches, schools and social gatherings.

Eleanor passed away Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2018, in the Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Temple.

She was preceded by her parents, Lee Roy and Ellen Jane Clore; and three brothers, James D. Clore, John Clore, and Lee Roy Clore Jr.

Surviving are her loving husband of 72 years, James E. “Gene” Luckey of Sharp; three daughters, Ellen Luckey and husband Michael Jordan of Rockdale, Carol O’Connor of Sharp, and Patti Schneider and husband Myron of Rockdale; eight grandchildren, Ashley Jordan of Utrecht, Netherland, Adrienne Jordan of Austin, Cne’ Schneider of Austin, Ty Schneider of Kyle, Trish Ammon of Jacksonville, Fla., Duke Schneider of Austin, Charlotte Cariotis of Meridian, and Dustin O’Connor of Searcy, Ark.; and six great-grandchildren.
