Yoemen outlast Rockdale 43-39, move to 8-8 on season

The Yoemen played a close first half with archrival Rockdale on Tuesday night but pulled ahead in the second half and the Tigers never quite caught up.

Cameron won the game 43-39.

The first quarter saw Cameron up 12-10 over Rockdale. The Tigers would trail the rest of the game. After the second quarter Cameron was ahead 22-20.

Cameron scored ten in the third quarter and 11 in the fourth quarter. Rockdale added seven in the third and 12 in the fourth.

Kobe Young was the top scorer for the Yoemen, getting nine points. Kadrian Hammond and Calvin Stewart each added eight points. Rounding out the scoring were: ZaKorien Spikes with six, Dre Booze with five, Greg England with four, and Thomas Melton with three.

Mason Monzingo lead the Tigers in scoring with 11 points. Kobe Mitchell and Zac Davis added eight points and seven points respectively for the Tigers. 

With the win the Yoemen go to 8-8 on the season, 3-3 in district play. 

The Yoemen will be back in action against Rogers on Friday night in Rogers. Games begin at 5 p.m.

The Junior Varsity moved to 13-1 on the season with a victory over Rockdale Tuesday 46-43.

Jayden Sanchez hit a three with one minute left and got the steal the next possession to help seal the game.

Scoring for the Yoemen were: Brent Wright with 14, T.K. Young with eight, Jayden Sanchez with six, Billy Collier and Kevaugn Booze with five each, Davarius Bynaum with four, and Asion Haynes and Braden Holloman with two each. 

Yoe Junior Varsity B continued their hot streak and beat Rockdale 49-28.

Scoring for the Yoemen were: Javoun Goldsby with 10, Nolan Brashear with 10, Phaibian Bynaum with nine, Davioun Scott with seven, Ryan Muniz with seven, Kai Reynolds with four, and Aarick Nelson with two.

 

Academy

The Yoemen’s comeback against Academy fell just short last Friday night as Academy beat them 45-42.

Stewart lead the Yoemen with 14 points against Academy. Other scoring were: Braden Brashear with eight, Thomas Melton with seven, Dre Booze with six, Kadrian Hammond with five, and ZaKorien Spikes with two.

Academy beat the Yoemen Junior Varsity 65-49.

Yoe scorers were: Kevaugn Booze with 15, Jaden Sanchez with 11, Brent Wright with nine, Asion Haynes with four, T.K. Young with four, Braden Holloman with four, and Davarius Bynaum with two.

The Yoe Junior Varsity B defeated Academy 48-40.

Yoe scorers were: Nolan Brashear with 13, Ryan Muniz with 12, Davioun Scott with eight, Phaibian Bynaum with eight, Kai Reynolds with two, Adam Cardona with two, and Tate Stroud with one.
