Vondee Chandler Blacklock

Vondee Chandler Blacklock, 91, of Temple, died Monday, March 11, in a Temple assisted living facility. 

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Oak Hill Pavilion in Cameron.  Visitation will be Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron.

Mrs. Blacklock was born August 23, 1927, in Denton County to John Lewis and Mary (McMahon) Reynolds. She married E.D. Chandler in Denton on Jan. 12, 1946.  He preceded her in death on Oct. 20, 1974, in Cameron. She married RJ Blacklock in Austin on Jan. 3, 1981 and he preceded her in death on Nov. 4, 2010, in Temple.

She was also preceded in death by her brother, Jesse Reynolds; and sister, Linda Martin; as well as her son-in-law, Thomas Mark Denson.

Mrs. Blacklock was an LVN and worked for several years in Cameron before retiring and moving to Temple where she and RJ were lifetime members of Central Texas Sportsman Club and volunteered many years at CTLC.  She attended Heights Baptist Church in Temple and later attended Western Hills Church of Christ in Temple.

She is survived by: her children, Charles Chandler and wife Sue of Killeen, Marilyn White and husband Joe of Temple, Paul Chandler and wife Carolyn of Duncanville, Vonda Mayfield and husband Jimmy of Red Oak, Mary Margaret Denson and Tony Controne of Crandal, and Helen Chandler and Dena Bartnicki of Dallas; step-children, Ricky and Marsha Blacklock, Larry and Suzette Blacklock, Kathy and Preston Gage, Becky Rogers, and Diane Pisk; 13 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the charity of donor’s choice.

Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home of Cameron is in charge of arrangements.
