Lady Yoe get win over Lexington

The Lady Yoe softball team bounced back from a stinging defeat Friday with a win over district foe Lexington on Monday night.

After falling on a late error against Rogers on Friday, the Lady Yoe bounced back in a big way by knocking off Lexington at Mark Humble Softball Field 4-2. They fell to Troy 16-1 on Tuesday night.

Cameron now sits at 2-3 in district play.

Lexington opened the scoring in the first with a couple of runs on a couple of errors. But the Lady Yoe responded by plating three runs in the bottom half to take a lead they would not surrender.

Cameron added an insurance run in the third inning.

Cheyanne Spillers got the nod in the circle and tossed a complete game with one walk and two strikeouts.

Senior Kenzie Wimmer had a pair of RBIs in the game as Carly Tucker and Madison Brunson drove in the other two runs for the ladies.

The ladies stumbled on Friday in their home district opener against Rogers.

A costly error in the seventh inning handed Rogers a 7-5 victory over the Lady Yoe.

Cameron opened with a 3-0 lead in the first inning before surrendering that lead in the middle innings.

Cameron’s Ashlee Balch came up huge in the bottom of the sixth when her two-run single knotted things up at five heading into the decisive frame.

Madison Brunson got the start in the circle and took the loss, giving up four earned runs and nine hits on the night.
