Chamber seeks input on award nominations

The Cameron Chamber of Commerce will host its annual banquet Tuesday, March 8.
In preparation for the annual event, chamber officials are asking the community for input on candidates for several of the annual awards. The awards are Organization of the Year, Citizen of the Year, Business of the Year and Volunteer of the Year.
According to a press release, nominations - including brief descriptions of how the nominees meets the criteria for the awards - should be submitted by Feb. 22.
The Volunteer of the Year award is given to an individual who has demonstrated involvement and enthusiasm by giving time and service to a variety of events in support of the community.
The Organization of the Year award is given to a non-profit community organization that shows commitment and volunteerism in community projects and demonstrates compassion, humility and nondiscrimination.
The Citizen of the Year award is given to an individual who has made significant civic contributions to the development and quality of life of this community through his or her personal effort. Their actions, by their very nature, serve as a model to those presently involved in community affairs and inspire others to bring about a better business climate and quality of life Cameron.
Those excluded from consideration include current chamber board members or chamber staff.
The Business of the Year award is given to a business that demonstrates significant commitment to the economic prosperity and quality of life of this community.
Nominees should be chamber members in good standing, show initiative in addressing community concerns, demonstrate the ability to positively respond to business adversity and show community commitment through job growth and support of employee involvement in community activities.
