Thorndale Bulldogs head to state tournament

Thorndale fans - shown at an earlier playoff game with Mumford - are ready to back the Bulldogs all the way to the Alamodome in San Antonio for the state tournament later this week.

Thorndale ISD is cancelling classes Friday, March 11, so the entire community can head for San Antonio to cheer on the Bulldogs as they compete in the UIL state basketball tournament.
The Bulldogs defeated Falls City 59-50 and Schulenburg 45-37 in the regional semifinal and finals held Friday and Saturday in New Braunfels. This week, they head to the Alamodome in San Antonio for the state tournament
They play Canadian at 10 a.m. Friday inthe state semifinals. If they win, they will play the winner of the Dallardsville Big Sandy-Muenster game in the Class 2A state championship at 1:30 p.m. Friday.
The Thorndale Booster Club is planning a send-off for the basketball team on Thursday, March 10, at 9:30 a.m. in the high school parking lot – everyone is invited to come out and wish the team good luck.
The school has a limited number of tickets to the Friday semifinal game to sell. The tickets go on sale at 8 a.m. Tuesday at the TISD administration office. Tickets will be on sale until noon on Thursday. All tickets are $16 each with no discounts. Parking at the Alamodome is $15 per parking space.
A fan bus leaving at 6 a.m. Friday is available at $10 per person. Those wanting to ride the bus must sign up in advance at the administration office and must have a game ticket to ride. Students middle school age or younger must be accompanied by an adult.
