Rhoades tapped by 5A Gregory-Portland ISD

CISD Athletic Director Rick Rhoades has been tapped as the new AD for 51 Gregory-Portland ISD, according to a statement released earlier this evening following the G-P ISD school board meeting.

Earlier tonight, Gregory-Portland ISD Trustees voted unanimously in favor of approving a recommendation to hire Rick E. Rhoades as the district’s new director of athletics/head football coach.
Pending contractual agreement, Rhoades will bring 31 years of award-winning coaching experience and leadership to G-PISD. He is the current athletic director for Cameron ISD and has formerly contributed to the growth and enhancement of athletic programs in Judson, Coppell, New Braunfels, North East, Comal, La Marque, Bastrop and Refugio ISDs.
“We had a number of highly-qualified applicants considered for this position,” said Dr. Paul Clore, G-PISD superintendent of schools. “However, Coach Rhoades’ experience and coaching philosophy matched almost perfectly with the input we received from our community and board members regarding their vision for our athletic program. He also had the most significant, well-rounded experience as an athletic director who has been successful in building all sports programs across a school district, coupled with his success as an outstanding football coach.”
