Louis Valentine Labay, Jr.

Louis Valentine Labay, Jr., 79, of Milano died Wednesday, June 29, at his home. 

Funeral services will begin with a rosary at 9:30 am Saturday, July 2, at St. Mary’s Church in Nada and a mass immediately following the rosary. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery. 

A visitation will be held Friday from 6 until 8 p.m. at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron with an additional rosary being recited at 7 p.m.

Louis was born Feb. 14, 1937, in Wharton County to Louis and Amalia Labay. 

Louis Graduated from Garwood high school in 1955. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army was was stationed at Fort Hood and over seas during peace time. Louis soon married his wife of 56 years, Lucille Schoellmann. 

They then moved to Houston and began his landscaping career which evolved into home construction. In 1985 Louis and Lucille moved to Milam County to pursue another one of his dreams of ranching and farming. 

Louis Labay is survived by his wife Lucille of Milano; is brother Ben of El Campo; four children, Dominic and Brenda Labay of Cameron, Brian and Lorrie Korenek of Nada, Lyle and Cynthia Labay of Cameron, and Amy Labay Penick of Milano; 17 grandchildren, Cody and his wife Yvonne of Magnolia, Corrie and her husband Daniel of Cameron, Clay and and his wife Whitney of Oklahoma, Colton of Cameron, Chelsea and her husband Brian of Glueckville, Rachel and her husband Cody of Columbus, Josh, Tucker, and Kurt of Nada, Lance of Magnolia, Lane and his wife Stephanie of Magniolia, Chad of Cameron, Scott and finace Sarah of Austin, Jake, Jason, Jimmy, and Jude of Milano.

Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home of Cameron is in charge of arrangements.
