Lady Yoe fall to Rogers, Jarrell to open 20-3A play

This past week, the Lady Yoe began play in one of the toughest districts in the state. Cameron had played a challenging non-district schedule but that did not pay off this past week as the ladies dropped matches to both Rogers and Jarrell to begin 20-3A action.

 

Rogers

Rogers is always regarded as one of the top volleyball teams in the area and should compete for a district title again in 2016. That was validated on Friday night as the Lady Eagles posted a three-set sweep over Cameron.

 

The ladies fell 11-25, 15-25 and 11-25. Savannah Kruse has been one of the top Lady Yoe attackers all year and led the team with a total of five kills. Jazmin Vaculin had 10 digs while Gracen Dach and Kruse each came in with seven.

 

Kruse had two blocks and Darci Denio had a team high seven assists.

 

In other 20-3A matches, Franklin swept Academy (3-0), Jarrell got by Hearne (3-1) and Lexington took down Rockdale (3-1).

 

Jarrell

After dropping a tough match to Rogers, Cameron was at Jarrell on Tuesday.

 

Denio got the ladies started in the right direction with a pair strong service attempts to go up 2-0 early in the first set. Cameron continued to hold that two-point margin at 6-4. After two errors led to a 15-13 deficit, Lady Yoe head coach Kamol Nohe was forced to take a timeout.

 

Miscues continued from that point as the ladies trailed 18-13 before falling in the opener, 25-17.

 

The second set began in the same fashion as Dach hit over two successful service attempts to put the Lady Yoe up 2-0. However, Jarrell continued their solid play and went up 13-7 midway through the set.

 

Jarrell continued excellent passing and knocked down multiple kills attempts to take the second set, 25-13.

 

The ladies fell behind 4-0 to start the third before cutting it down to 4-3. The rally would end at that point as the Lady Cougars proceeded to go on a 6-1 run before going on to close out the match, 25-7.

 

Kruse finished with a total of seven kills while Denio had eight assists. Kenzie Wimmer (6), Kruse (5) and Denio (4) all had multiple digs.
