The Thorndale Independent School District Board of Trustees called for a bond election for new construction and renovation during a special meeting on Feb. 13.

Superintendent Adam Ivy said there will be more information about the bond election coming soon on the district’s website at http://www.thorndale.txed.net.

Three informational meetings have been scheduled for community members to learn about the bond. The meetings are set for Feb. 22 at 5:30 p.m. in the Middle School office area; March 20 at 5:30 p.m. in the TISD Board Room; and April 20 at 6:30 p.m. in the band hall.

The board also called for the board of trustee’s election in May before listening to a presentation from Blake Powell from Powell and Leon Attorneys and Christian Merritt from Live Oak Financial about board training concerning the board and the district’s role in the bond election process. Once they completed their training the order calling for the bond election was officially signed and sealed.

The board also approved several budget amendments that would allow the purchase of a new ice machine in the cafeteria, new Chromebooks for elementary students and a facelift renovation project for the fieldhouse and gym locker rooms to remove carpet and install epoxy floors.

The regular board meeting for February was moved, tentatively, to Feb. 20, depending upon the basketball playoff schedule.
