Yoe track opens season

The spring sports season is now in full swing as track has competed in their first meet of the year. Cameron sent a plethora of runners to compete in the Troy Trojan Relays on March 2. The Lady Yoe finished in fourth place overall as a team with 63 points while the Yoemen were third with 107 points. Both teams will be in the Moody meet today.

 

Lady Yoe

The Lady Yoe earned points in seven different events, with the 4x100 relay leading the way with 12. The tandem of Ashanti Brooks, Ashlee Balch, Destiny Anderson and Zakara Bryson finished in third place with a time of 52.14. The 4x200 meter relay team, consisting of Brooks, Balch, Anderson and Lyric Epperson, finished fourth with a time of 1:58.82, while 4x400 team of Brooks, Epperson, Maddi Kenney and Cailynne Hoelscher finished sixth at 4:57.62.

 

The individual runners were highlighted by Kenney's second place finish in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:44.28. Faith Kistler was 5th in the same event at 2:15.14. Bryson was third in the 100 M dash with a time of 13.12.

 

In the field events, Brittney Moorer was third with a throw of 33'9.25”. Makennah Shuffield was sixth in the high jump at 4'6”. Full varsity team results: 1. Lorena (200); 2. West (145); 3. Troy (132); 4. Rogers (46); 5. Cameron Yoe (45); 5. Moody (45).

 

In the JV division, the 4x100 team (DorReka Holt, Shelby Lara, T'maja Oges, Marquazia Workman) at 56.36 and the 4x400 (Ali Tumlinson, Camia Canady, Harlie Halpain, Julianne Youngblood) team at 5:26.85 both finished second. The JV girls were fourth in the meet with 63 points.

 

Yoemen

The Yoemen had multiple first place finishes in running events, including the 4x100 (Sicory Smith, DJ Daniels, KeAndrew Moore, Tydrik Williams) at 44.79. In the 100-meter dash, Moore (11.38) and Davion Bynum (11.50) came in first and second. Levi May (11.76) earned 2 points with a fifth place finish in the same event. Rico Bolivar (11:45.74) outpaced the competition in the 3200-meter run. Noah Kostroun (20'10.75”) was first in the long jump and Garrett Roeder (39'2”) was first in the triple jump.

 

Others included a third place finish and time of 1:37.58 in the 4x200 (Smith, Daniels, Moore, Williams) and fourth place finish and time of 4:07.87 in the 4x400 (Noah Kostroun, Bryce Welsh, Armando Mendez, Kevondre Wesley).

 

Roeder (57.14) was sixth in the 400-meter dash and Bolivar (5:30.86) was second in the 1600 meter run.

 

In the hurdles, Callyn Harris was fifth in the 110 (20.50) and 300 (48.82). Adrian Lewis (41'11”) was fourth in the shot put.

For the JV boys, Daman Smith (8'6”) was first in the pole vault, Pat England was third in the 100-meter dash (11.82) and fourth in the 200 meter dash (24.71), and Dominic Lewis (32'10”) was fifth in the shot put. The JV boys were fifth overall with 22 points.
