Don Robert Lee

Mr. Don Robert Lee, 81, of Cameron, formerly of Shamrock, passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2017, in a Temple hospital. A memorial service for Mr. Lee will be held at a later date in Shamrock.

Mr. Lee was born Dec. 15, 1935, in Wheeler, to Richard Ennis and Grace Copeland Lee. He graduated from Austin High School. He was a retired employee of IBM. Mr. Lee was an active HAM radio operator. He raised Colorado Beefmaster cattle and was a longtime member of Southwest Cattleman’s Association. Preceding Mr. Lee in death are his parents, his loving wife of 49 years, Ann Smith Lee, and one daughter, Miranda Lee. Don was loved by everyone he met especially his family and many friends. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Kyal Lawhon of Cameron; son, David R. Lee and wife Gayle of Austin; daughters, Suzanne Turner of Bowling Green, Mich., and Mildred Warford and husband Bill of Bartlett; brothers, Leo Lee and wife Jerry of Dallas and Joe Lee and wife Betty of Austin; and sister-in-law, Ellen Smith of Leander.

Also surviving are grandchildren, Tashauna McKee, Robert Turner, Chad Detillion, Chelsea Lee and Jay Williams. He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren, Isadora, Michael, Madeleine, Lane, Kale, Trip, Bo, Trevor and Bailey.

The family feels fortunate to be a part of this loving family who are close and supportive of each other. Don was generous. He had a couple of phrases that are “so Don”, 1. “Just one little mistake” and 2. “No big deal”.  They would also like to thank the doctors and the nursing staff for all their hard work to make him as comfortable as possible.

Don, Pop, Dad, we love you and will miss you! Thank you for a wonderful life of memories.
