CISD making administrative changes at CJH, Cameron Elementary

Cameron Independent School District has announced several administrative changes for the coming school year.

The CISD Board of Trustees approved the staffing changes during its meeting on May 15.

Cameron Junior High Principal Wendy Mahan has been named principal for the entire Cameron Elementary and Cameron Junior High campus. She will begin those duties this summer. Mahan will have two assistant principals on the campus. Current Assistant Principal Matt Fitzsimmons will remain there and Yoe High biology teacher and coach James Henderson will move over to the campus to assume assistant principal duties.

“Being the 3-8 campus principal is going to allow me to effectively and positively integrate the two campuses for the benefit of students, parents, and all stakeholders,” Mahan said. “This promotion has provided me the opportunity to share my passion for student learning and growth. I look forward to continuing the Yoe tradition of excellence through two campuses both which are instrumental in the educational success of our district and community.”

Cameron Elementary principal Louis Mandanici will leave the district this summer.

“We are very excited about this opportunity for our 3-8 campus,” CISD Superintendent Allan Sapp said. “Wendy will be working closely with Louis the last weeks of the school year. The campus will have three administrators with one principal and two assistant principals.”

Henderson said he is beyond excited to move on to this next journey in his career.

“I have been extremely blessed and truly enjoyed my time at C.H. Yoe High School as a teacher and coach, but now God has lead me in a different direction,” he said. “With this new position I hope to bring a heart and passion for serving the kids at Cameron Elementary and Junior High. I want to be a mentor they can look up to, and lead the campus in a positive direction. I’m ready to be a part of something great at Cameron Elementary and Junior High.”

CISD has also added two additional positions for curriculum and instruction.

Laci Rasberry, current teacher at CJH has been chosen as the Elementary Curriculum Coordinator and will begin those duties this summer. Pamela Maldonado from San Antonio will serve as the Secondary Curriculum Coordinator.

“We are very excited for James, Laci and Pamela,” Sapp said. “These individuals bring tremendous knowledge and experience to their new positions.”

Mandanici will return to teaching in the classroom and relocating out of state.

“I consider it an honor to have been able to lead Cameron Elementary and serve the students of this community,” Mandanici said. “However, it is my desire to return to what I truly enjoy and that’s teaching students directly in the classroom. I plan on relocating out of state, but wish Cameron ISD all the best.”

Mahan, Henderson and Rasberry are all graduates of C.H. Yoe High School.
