O.J. Thomas Homecoming events set for weekend

The O. J. Thomas Alumni Association will be celebrating its 52nd Annual Homecoming on Aug. 11 and 12.  

The celebration will began Friday night with a Memorial Service beginning at 7 p.m. at the Progressive Missionary Baptist Church.  The keynote speaker will be retired Captain Niley J. Rosemond.  

On Saturday at 10 a.m. the annual parade will kick off. The parade will begin at the 12th Street Park and take a route through the West side of town ending at O. J. Thomas School on 6th Street.  

The Grand Marshall for the event will be Captain Rosemond and will feature the Homecoming Queen S’naya Diggs along with floats, vintage cars, etc.  

The parade is an open event and all are welcome.
