Westbrook shines in loss to Tampa Bay

For a majority of Jacksonville’s second preseason game versus Tampa Bay, the offense looked flat. That was until Dede Westbrook entered the game in the fourth quarter. The former Yoemen made his case to get into the starting rotation, hauling in 6 catches for 131 yards. The remainder of the receiving core had a total of just 121 yards throughout the entire game. After two complete preseason games, Westbrook currently leads all the NFL with 173 receiving yards. Kasen Williams of Seattle is currently in second with 147 yards. Westbrook and the Jaguars will next be in action tonight with the Carolina Panthers traveling to Florida.

Youth soccer registration is underway
Cameron Youth Soccer registration is underway and the deadline is August 31st. Officials will be at Yoe High Cafeteria that night from 5-7PM for last chance registration. Youth ages 4-13 are eligible to play and the cost is $40 per player with a discount for households with multiple players. Football Scrimmage Vs. Madisonville

The Cameron Yoemen will host the Madisonville Mustangs on Thursday in the final scrimmage before the games start to matter. The format of this scrimmage will be very similar to the first with a few minor changes. The freshmen and JV will both get going at 5:00. Each team will be on offense for 30 minutes and defense for 30 minutes.

The varsity will follow with their controlled portion of the schedule. The first team offense and defense will be on the field for 12 plays followed by 10 plays for the second team unit. The exact same set of plays will occur once more before each team tries to execute an overtime possession at the 25.

The scrimmage will wrap up with a 12 minute live quarter.

Rosebud honoring late coach

The community of Rosebud is choosing to honor their late coach. Coach Charlie Groesclose Jr, which spent 25 years at Rosebud-Lott, passed away earlier this month at the age of 82.

The idea is to have a memorial scoreboard. A Facebook page with information has been created. A message from the page:

“Coach Charlie Groseclose was an unbelievably giving man. We would like to honor him by dedicating a new scoreboard at Cougar Field at Rosebud-Lott High School. A group of former students, athletes, co-workers have put together this page as a way to invite others to be as giving as Coach G was and to make a donation in his name to this project.”
