Two Yoemen named to all-state football team
Despite finishing with a losing record, fourth in their own district, and falling in the opening round of the playoffs, Cameron still managed to get two players mentioned on the all-state list. Senior quarterback Zack Andress was one of eight honorable mention quarterbacks mentioned on the Associated Press list. Andress completed 179 of 305 pass attempts and threw for 2,450 yards and 34 touchdowns. He also led the team in rushing with 484 yards and 2 scores. Iverson
Westbrook was also listed as an honorable mention receiver. Westbrook caught 64 passes for 945 yards and 15 touchdowns during his senior campaign. Rockdale’s Torry Locklin (2nd Team QB) and Dylan David (HM Linebacker) and Franklin’s Jared Pedraza (2nd team DB) and Will Fannin (HM LB) were also mentioned from 10-3A.
Jacksonville headed to the playoffs
Dede Westbrook and the Jacksonville Jaguars will be headed to the playoffs for the first time since 2007. All that the Jaguars had to do to ensure the postseason berth was to beat the Texans, and they did so in convincing fashion, 45-7 Jacksonville (10-4) will be on the road at San Francisco (4-10) this Sunday for a 3:05 pm kickoff. The only way that Jacksonville cannot win the AFC South is to lose to the 49ers, lose to Tennessee, and have the Titans win out. Westbrook had two catches 2 catches for 21 yards and 1 punt return for 19 yards in the win over Houston.
