Service Directory
Services for Rosalie Turner, age 80, of Thorndale, will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 15, 2018, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with Pastor James Mann and Rev. James Brymer officiating. Burial will be in the Salty Cemetery. Public visitation will be Sunday from 4-6 p.m. at the funeral home.
Rosalie was born Aug. 19, 1937, in Taylor, and was the daughter of Albert and Bertha (Riethmeyer) Werchan. She attended Taylor High School and graduated from Hutto High School. She and H. D. (Pee Wee) Turner were married June 15, 1958, in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Taylor. She worked for Mann Plumbing and Electric in Taylor for many years as the Office Manager and accountant. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Thorndale and served on the Bereavement Committee, and a member of the Town and Country Club. She served on the Thorndale School Board and the Salty Cemetery Board. She volunteered for a number of school and city committees and boards. She was a Mom to her four children and known as Mom to many others. Rosalie passed away on Friday, Jan. 12, 2018, in Temple.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son; father and mother-in-law, J. C. and Ollie Turner; niece; Heide Werchan Walther; and brothers-in-law, Gillford Hubble and Bill Rountree.
Surviving is her husband of 60 years, H. D. (Pee Wee) Turner of Thorndale; sons, Jeff Turner and wife Sandy of St. Lawrence - Garden City, and Blake Turner and wife Audrey of Thorndale; daughters, Lisa Ward and husband Dr. Belur Patel of Belton and Lana McDermott and husband Erskine of Cameron; grandchildren, Cooper McDermott and wife Laney of St. Lawrence-Garden City, Erskine McDermott and wife Holly of St. Lawrence-Garden City, Shawnia Ward of Belton, and Amber Turner of Round Rock; step-grandchildren, Shelly Wisdom and husband Sid of Abernathy, Scotty Harris and wife Quita of St. Lawrence-Garden City; Great grandchildren, Truett and Amelia McDermott; step-great-grandchildren, Cassidy Reinhart and Jack Harris; brother, Kenneth Werchan and wife Libby of Hoover Valley; sister, Betty Rountree of Austin; nephew, Timmy Hubble and wife Judy of Round Rock; nieces, Debbie Prestwood and husband Tony of Round Rock, Bethany Fisher and husband Terry of Thorndale, Kristen Valentine and husband Robert of Sand Springs, Okla.; and Special Friends, Dennis and Cathy Swazea, Mary Gest, and Priscilla Lagerstron Walther.
Serving as pallbearers will be Kelvin Kroeger, Billy Felfe, Shorty Hengst, Terry Simank, Richard Fuessel, Raymond Waiser, Charles Ulbrich, Preston Hegar. Honorary pallbearers are Darron Kunkel, Dennis Swazea and Joey Hiney.
The family requests donations be made to the Salty Cemetery Association, 230 CR 447, Thorndale, Texas 76577 or the Vasicek Cancer Center at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center.
