Joe David Millian

Joe David Millian, age 74, passed away Thursday, Jan. 18, at UTMB in Galveston.

He was born in Fort Worth to Joe and Loraine Millian, living most of his life in the Austin area. He attended Belton High School and enrolled at the University of Texas in 1961 with studies in linguistics, speaking Eastern European languages as well as Spanish and English.  He worked at the Austin White Lime Co. and Gardenville to name only a few.

He was passionate about motocross racing and enjoyed organic gardening.  In his spare time he raced motocross (#19), gardening on the one acre plot which included may fruit trees, blackberries and a beautiful pecan tree.  He also volunteered to many citizens in Round Rock assisting in Spanish with income taxes, volunteering at KUTX during pledge drives as well as having a gardening program in the early 90’s.

Joe was extremely proud of his three children, Tamara DiBenedetoo of Austin, Amy Thiel of Bastrop and Charles Millian of Austin.

He is also survived by his loving mother, Loraine of Salado; sister, Charlotte Rowlan and husband Matt of Maggie Valley, N.C.

Graveside services were held Jan. 27 at Corinth Cemetery near Buckholts. Visitation was at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron.
