City says water is fine to drink
Service Directory
From the City of Cameron:
The Little River is currently generating an abundance of organic matter that has produced a distinctive taste and odor. Unfortunately our treatment process does not take away either taste or odor at the levels being produced.
The water meets all TCEQ standards and has been filtered and disinfected well beyond all requirements. Samples continue to be monitored from around town, at the Ground Storage Tank and at the filter plant.
Customers who experience taste or odor can chill tap water before drinking in order to make the taste and smell issues less noticeable. It is NOT necessary to boil water as the water is safe to drink and meets all state and federal public health standards.
This problem will clear up once there is more flow in the Little River.
