Cameron ISD to offer free lunch for all students
Service Directory
Cameron ISD will provide breakfast and lunch free of charge to all students during the 2018-19 school year.
The district made the announcement on July 30 saying that students at Ben Milam Elementary, Cameron Elementary, Cameron Junior High and Yoe High School under the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program for the 2018-19 school year will be provided lunch and breakfast for no charge.
Cameron ISD qualified to operate under the Community Eligibility Provision provide breakfast and lunch to all children at no charge and eliminate the collection of meal applications for free, reduced-price, and paid student meals. This new approach reduces burdens for both families and school administrators and helps ensure that students receive nutritious meals.
“The health and wellness of our students is paramount to their cognitive development,” Superintendent Allan Sapp said. “CISD is excited to be able to offer free breakfast and lunch to all CISD students this school year.”
Only students applying for Pre-K 3 and Pre-K 4 will have to fill out a Lunch Application with proof of income as part of the qualifying process.
