Lady Yoe drop third straight 19-3A match

In every district match for Cameron, they have been right in the mix to win. Unfortunately someone has to lose, and the Lady Yoe are now on a three-game district losing streak after falling to Rogers on Tuesday, three sets to one.

After taking down McGregor in a sweep to begin district, Cameron had fallen to both Rockdale and Troy in heartbreaking five-set losses at home.

The turning point in Tuesday’s road tilt came in the third set, where Cameron appeared to be in control with a 23-17 lead. That was until a Rogers kill followed by four errors allowed the Lady Eagles to take the third, 25-23, and eventually set number four, 25-17. Cameron did win the second set, 25-18.

Cameron head coach Kamol Nohe noted that his team simply lost their focus on what the game plan was that had them in position to take a two to one set lead.

“It was a turning point,” said Lady Yoe coach Kamol Nohe on the shift in momentum in the third set. “The kids went off and did something we didn’t plan on doing. They decided to have a different game plan. We had something going and it was looking good, and then we got away from it.”

Carley Tucker continued her offensive onslaught with 16 kills in the Rogers match. Senior Gracen Dach also had a strong showing, coming in with 7 kills. Another senior, Darci Denio, led the team with 30 assists.

Rogers Cross Country Results

The Yoe cross country teams competed in the Rogers meet over the weekend, and there were more positive results.

Daniela Bustamante led the varsity competition, finishing in fifth place overall with a time of 14:04.2. Daisy Osorio was 11th at 14:35.4 and Eliza Garcia was 15th at 15:09.8. Sarai Leon competed for the JV and finished fourth at 18:49.3. For the junior high, Logan Pevehouse placed an impressive sixth out of 100 runners with a time of 14:27.6.

For the boys, Joseph Barbo (first, 22:01.6) and Antonio Jiminez (second, 23:37.7) swepth the top two spots in the JV division.

For the junior high boys, Cameron had enough runners to compete as a team and finished in third place with 64 points.

Johnathan Clouse led the pack with a sixth place finish and time of 13:05.1. Colton Barbo (12th, 13:30.8), Stedman Elliott (13th, 13:35.5), Brock Wright (18th, 13:46.1) and Brady Haven (38th, 15:04.0) all ran.

Cameron, with the junior high on October 7 and the high school on October 9.
